In Focus
Here is a sneak peak of my new series called ‘In Focus’.
Each week I will be breaking down my photos with a guest from the combat sports scene. Stay tuned for more updates!
Here's what I mean
Just a few examples
Watermarks
Let's talk about watermarks
We all like sharing fight photos but please remember to keep the watermark or least tag/credit the photographer.
The watermark is the signature of our work. It could be plastered all over but we rather not obscure the photograph so we leave it on the corner

Fighter to Fight Photographer
I never had an official fight photographer to capture my fights when I was competing. This is one of the main reasons which motivates me to capture photos of fighters in the ring and backstage. When it's time to hang up the gloves, you can always look back onto these moments.
I lacked the abilities and dedication to be a champion fighter so I turned my focus into fight photography and working behind the scenes in the combat world.

Side Projects
Sometime last year, I wanted to branch outside of being just a fight photographer. I wanted to also help give back to the sport and help boost the exposure of local promotions and fighters. Recently I think I've found a fun way to do that by doing these video and design projects.
I figured these might get some hits on social media and get shared amongst my friends who are not in the fight scene. Instead of seeing standard bloodied fight photos, I added some fun design aspects to my photos to show people a different perspective of the 'barbaric' sport.
Way of the Fighter was a result of many years of my dead end ideas. I interviewed fighters and asked how they felt at a particular moment of their fight and then added that to their photo. Before I began training in combat sports, my only way of learning more about professional fighters was reading their interviews in bi-monthly magazines or internet forums. There was still so many more questions that puzzled me and no mainstream sports outlet was covering it.
It's pretty cool to be able to learn so much more about the sport, make good friends along the way and share all of this with new fans.

Way of the Fighter
'Way of the Fighter' is a new personal project that I'm working on. It's made up of many smaller ideas that I've had in the past that never really went anywhere. Capturing emotive photographs has always been part of my style and I've got a bunch of personal favourite photos that I often revisit for new ideas. So far the response has been very positive from fighters and friends. I'm very grateful to have such a supporting community!
I hope this project would help inspire fans and up and comers as they get a better insight into the thoughts of fighters.

AIPP 2015 Epson Awards
Last week I finally picked up my prints and certificate from the AIPP office in Surrey Hills and was fortunate to have received two silver awards for my work. It was a nice experience to get critiqued feedback from the industry professionals. Most of them wouldn't have had such intimate to the fight scene as I had but their years of experience was valuable information to help me grow and sharpen my style. It reminded me of being critiqued by a panel of architects during my days/nights at uni.
